Mr. Theron Hayes, 85, of 608 Fourth Avenue, Thomaston, died Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Hayes was a native of Griffin but had lived in Thomaston since childhood. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was a retired machine overhauler for the Martha Mills Division of the B. F. Goodrich Co., having worked there for 46 years. Mr. Hayes was a member of the Silvertown Baptist Church where he was active in the Sunday School program. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dot Hayes; two daughters, Sue (Durwood) Fallin of Summerville and Theresa (Tom) Halley of Griffin; a son, Mark (Nancy) Hayes of Americus; three sisters, Rhunette Ellington, Betty Austin and Nell Eubanks, all of Thomaston; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
