Mrs. Thelma Ruth Strickland

Mrs. Thelma Ruth Strickland, age 87, of Thomaston, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Riverside Health and Rehab with her devoted husband of more than 60 years by her side.

Mrs. Strickland was born on March 3, 1939, in Roberta, Georgia, a daughter of the late Henry Jackson Cochran and the late Isabell Bloodworth Cochran. She was employed for many years with Goody's Manufacturing, where she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. A woman who found joy in life's simple blessings, Thelma loved cooking for those she loved, caring for her animals, enjoying the beauty of nature, and spending time with her beloved husband, Phillip. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her loving husband, Phillip T. Strickland of Thomaston; her daughter, Gail Saucier of Morgan City, Louisiana; her granddaughters, Sarah Saucier, Ashley (Dustin Pike) Saucier, and Tiffany (Tristan) Hilburn; her great-grandchildren, Micah, Krysta, Keaton, Chasitiy, Ronnie, Jr., Hailey, Kinsley, Aubrey, Audrey, Elijah, and Willow; her cherished fur baby, Rollie Polley; and several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings, and her beloved fur baby, Blaze.

Funeral services for Mrs. Strickland will be held Thursday, August 6, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Dr. Ryan Christopher officiating. Interment will follow in Stribling Cemetery in Molena. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.

Though she lived a quiet life, Thelma's legacy is found in the love she gave to her family, the home she nurtured, and the countless memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
