Mrs. Shirley Leigh Owsley

Mrs. Shirley Leigh Owsley, 83, of Thomaston, died Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Riverside Health and Rehab. Funeral services for Mrs. Owsley will be held on Wednesday, January 12, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Dean Hemphill and Rev. Marc Pritchett will officiate, and interment will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour. Mrs. Owsley was born in Upson County on April 5, 1938, to the late Johnson Blevins Leigh and Maggie Kent Leigh. She was a 1955 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and was employed as an executive secretary at C & S Bank of Thomaston for 38 years. Mrs. Owsley enjoyed decorating churches. She attended Clarks Chapel Baptist Church and was a member of The Rock Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Owsley was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Dennis McKissick; a sister, Betty Myrick; and four brothers: Arthur Leigh, William Leigh, Bobby Leigh, and Alfred Leigh. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, David Owsley; a daughter, Vicki McKissick; a granddaughter, Courtney McKissick; and a grandson Stephen (Tori) McKissick, all of Thomaston, GA; a sister, Faye Rainwater of Jonesboro, GA; two brothers, Bruce (Connie) Leigh of Moultrie, GA, and Larry (Becky) Leigh of Helen, GA; and three great grandchildren: William Morgan, Jackson Montford, and Violet McKissick.
