Mrs. Sandra Blount Waller, age 86, of Thomaston, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
Born on February 6, 1940, in Thomaston, Sandra was the daughter of the late Claude Blount and the late Lola Mae McSwain Blount. She graduated from Yatesville High School with the Class of 1958 and, on November 7, 1959, married the love of her life, James Gary Fredrick Waller. Together they shared many devoted years of marriage while building a loving home and raising their family.
Sandra was employed with Carter's for many years while also delivering The Atlanta Journal-Constitution for more than 45 years. She remained committed to her newspaper route until declining health no longer allowed her to continue. While she took great pride in her work, her greatest calling was that of wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She devoted her life to caring for her family, always placing their needs above her own. She was of the Christian faith.
Anyone who knew Sandra knew the pride she took in her home and especially in her beautiful yard. It was always meticulously maintained and reflected the care, dedication, and attention she gave to every aspect of her life. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her gentle spirit, and the unconditional love she shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Perkins of Whitesburg; her son, Bruce Waller of Thomaston; her granddaughters, Samantha Bone (Brett), April Michelle Nicholson (Craig), and Erica Hillard (Matthew); her cherished great-grandchildren, Colt, Cheyenne, Cain, Charlotte, Laura, Henry, Addison, Jackson, Eddilyn, Callie, and Stetson; a sister-in-law, Kaye (Earle) Hartridge, her nephews, Terry (Phyllis) Callahan and Trace Hartridge, and her niece, Trina Sproat.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Gary Fredrick Waller; her infant twin daughters; her sister, Claudette Callahan, and a nephew, David Callahan.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 8, at 11:00 a.m. at South View Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family immediately following the service at the cemetery.
Mrs. Waller's family will forever cherish the memories of her love, compassion, and unwavering devotion. Her legacy of kindness and selfless care will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
Fletcher-Day Funeral Home of Thomaston is honored to serve the Waller family. Condolences and remembrances may be expressed at www.fletcherdayfuneralhome.com.
