Mrs. Maudene Gilbert Allen, age 77, of Thomaston, died Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Overton will officiate, and interment will follow in the Molena City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mrs. Allen was born in Upson County on January 16, 1940, to the late Charlie Edward Gilbert and Annie Belle Ruffin Gilbert. Mrs. Allen, a graduate of R. E. Lee Institute, was a homemaker. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Duke Allen, Sr., and a son, Kenneth Duke Allen, Jr., a sister, Margie Gilbert Daniel, and two brothers, Alton Gilbert and Barney Gilbert. Survivors include three sons: Greg (Angela) Allen and Jeff Allen, both of Thomaston, GA, and Mike (Ronda) Allen of Columbus, GA; two daughters-in-law: Lyndel Allen and Dede Allen both of Thomaston; a sister: Mary Ann Smith of Hiram, GA; a sister-in-law: Phyllis Gilbert of Thomaston; two brothers: George (Bobbie) Gilbert, of San Marcos, TX, and Dan (Eunelle) Gilbert, of Nashville, TN.; eleven grandchildren: Autumn Kendel (Daniel) Purvis of Columbus, GA; Ashton Kathleen Allen (Paul David Little), of Dalton, GA; Nathaniel Cole Allen of Great Lakes, IL; Matthew Kaleb Allen of Thomaston, GA; Heather Allen (Tony) Greene of Anderson, SC; Mallory Allen (Josh) Bates and Lindsay Taylor Allen, both of Thomaston, GA; Malia Paige Allen of Tempe, AZ; Alyssa Victoria Allen of Columbus, GA; Lexington Bryant Allen (Danielle Marie Rondeau), of Savannah, GA; and Haley Allen (Will) Adams of Savannah, GA; three great grandchildren: Daniel Anthony Greene and Tyler Luke Greene both of Anderson, SC, and Emersyn Sage Adams of Savannah, GA.
