Mrs. Margaret "Margie" Beacham Hayes, 95, of Thomaston, died Monday, April 12, 2021, at her daughter's home in Griffin, GA. Funeral services for Mrs. Hayes will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at 10:00 AM, at the Silvertown Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, April 13, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mrs. Hayes was born in Laurens County on August 23, 1925, to the late Cleon Beacham and Julia Burris Beacham. She worked at Warner Robins as a Rosie the Riveter during World War II, and she later retired from the Spooler Room at the Peerless Division of Thomaston Mills. Mrs. Hayes was a long-time member of Silvertown Baptist Church where she served in many capacities and was a founding member of their Soup Kitchen. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Hayes in 1975, a son, Raymond Clyde Hayes, three sisters, and two brothers. She is survived by two daughters: Daphney (Jack) Prewitt of Griffin, GA, and Kimberly Davis of Macon, GA; a son, Anthony "Cooter" (Vickie) Hayes of Thomaston; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
