Mrs. Joyce Cox Wood

Mrs. Joyce Cox Wood, age 89, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be held Friday, May 3, at 2:00 PM, at Clark's Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Dean Hemphill will officiate, and interment will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Wood was born in Thomaston on July 12, 1934, to the late Rev. Olin Cox and the late Sadie Jackson Cox. She was a 1952 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and was a homemaker. She was a long-time member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs. Wood was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kerry Wood, and a brother, Ernie Cox.

Mrs. Wood is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Jackie Wood of Thomaston; two daughters: Kelli (Donald) Bagley of Dallas, GA, and Kristie (Pruitt) Wilder of Thomaston. She was affectionately known as Nanny to her eight grandchildren: Mitchell (Heather) Bagley, Jonathan (Melissa) Bagley, Logan (Ellen) Wood, Jacob (Bethany) Bagley, Kerrah (Cameron) Winters, Alex (Michael) Boynton; Madison (Paul) Whitmire, and Mason Wilder; and to her nine great grandchildren. A sister-in-law, Brenda Blackmon, several nieces and nephews, and her special caregiver, Louann Kendrick also survive.
