Mrs. Jane Angeline Underwood

Jane Angeline “Angie” Underwood, age 85, of Montreat, North Carolina, died Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the Solace Center in Asheville, North Carolina.

Angie is survived by her son, John, and his wife Kimberly; grandchildren Robbie, Alicia, and Michael; and her sister-in-law, Marian; as well as five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Milton and Thelma Salter Adams; and her beloved husband, Emory Marvin Underwood, II, who passed in 2024.

Angie was born in Thomaston, Georgia on May 11, 1941, growing up there and later living in Alabama, where she received her bachelor’s degree from Auburn University. She attended several other universities and earned a master’s degree from Troy State in Alabama. Her long career as a counselor for children began with Vocational Rehabilitation and also included therapeutic foster care.

Angie and Emory enjoyed traveling together. They visited 49 states, mostly by car, and many counties, including Japan, Canada, Mexico, Peru, England, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Egypt and Thailand.

A graveside burial will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, August 31, 2026, at Glenwood Cemetery in Thomaston, Georgia, where Angie will be laid to rest with her parents and husband. There will be a local memorial service in a few months, with details to be announced at a later date.
