Mrs. Charlene Fowler Daniel, age 80, of Thomaston, died Friday, December 28, 2018, at her residence. Memorial services for Mrs. Daniel will be held on Wednesday, January 2, at 12:00 PM, at First United Methodist Church of Thomaston with Rev. Eddie Herring officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church from 10:30 until the funeral hour. Mrs. Daniel was born March 25, 1938, in Thomaston, to the late Simpson B. Fowler, Sr., and Lula Jewell Avery Fowler. She was a 1956 graduate of R.E. Lee Institute and a 1960 graduate of Campbellsville College, Campbellsville, KY. She taught for two years at James R. Atwater School and later joined her husband, Billy, in the family business, Daniel’s Men’s Shop. She and Billy closed the store and retired in 1999. Mrs. Daniel was a member of the URMC Auxiliary and had been a member of the Thomaston Jaycettes. She kept the records for her high school class and worked on organizing the class reunions. She also enjoyed playing bridge. Mrs. Daniel was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Thomaston. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Daniel was preceded in death by two sisters: Martha Alexander and Jewell Ellerbee, three brothers: S. B. Fowler, Jr., W. Alvin Fowler, and Dr. Ray E. Fowler, and a daughter-in-law, Teresa Butler Daniel. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, L. W. “Billy” Daniel of Thomaston; one son: Brent (Shawn) Daniel, of Thomaston; one daughter: Karen (Phillip) Mullins of Panama City, FL; a sister: Mary Pitts of Ocala, FL; two brothers: Bobby (Annice) Fowler and Dr. Roy A. (Patricia) Fowler, both of Athens, TN; a sister-in-law, Cherrie Fowler, of Athens, TN; a brother-in-law: Garner (Martha) Ellerbee of Thomaston; seven grandchildren: Ben (Manuella) Daniel, Chase Daniel, Matthew Mullins, Eric Mullins, Ramsey Mullins, Bennett Pardue, and Avery Pardue; one great grandson: Bentley Daniel; and several nieces and nephews.
