Mrs. Carol Norris Odom, age 76, born in Jacksonville, Florida, of Thomaston, Georgia, died peacefully Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Riverside Health & Rehabilitation in Thomaston, Georgia.
Mrs. Odom was the daughter of the late Ostelle and Betty Yates Norris, and was preceded in death by her brothers Rodney Brent Norris and Timothy Craig Norris, both formerly of Thomaston, Georgia. She is survived by her daughters, Shannon Odom, Lisa Odom Holmes (Andy Johnson), Dixie Michele Odom (Philip Webb), her grandchildren Charlie Holmes, Cameron Holmes, Silas Barfield, Bella Grace Webb, Sadie Millwood, and Lucas Webb, her brother, Michael Russ Norris of Thomaston, and her nephew, Brian (Keely) Norris of Temple Hills, Maryland.
Carol was a proud graduate of R.E. Lee Institute, class of 1967, where she made forever friends with whom she remained close for the rest of her life. Throughout her life she lived in many different places, including Germany, Texas, Kentucky, and Florida, while raising her daughters and later helping to raise her grandchildren, before returning to Thomaston. Upon returning to Thomaston, Carol greatly enjoyed getting together with her old friends and former classmates, as well as visiting Peachtree Cafe, formerly owned by her brother Russ, but where she considered everyone to be family, and where the staff especially gave her tremendous joy in her later years. Carol was a voracious reader and prolific solver of crossword puzzles, who also loved playing Scrabble, watching her detective shows, and organizing family gatherings. She was kind and loving, compassionate and generous of spirit, and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
