Mrs. Aline Barron Nicholson, 99, of Thomaston, died Friday, February 10th, 2017 at Riverside Health and Rehab. Funeral services for Mrs. Nicholson will be held on Monday, February 13th, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Barber officiating. A private burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Nicholson will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Monday from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour. Mrs. Nicholson was born on October 24, 1917 in Thomaston, a daughter of the late Henry Aldine and Florence Moore Barron. She was a 1934 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and later earned a business degree from the Georgia State College for Women. Mrs. Nicholson married her husband, the late John Sydney Nicholson, in 1939, and in 1943 they opened Parkway Florist, a business they would own and operate for 33 years. Mrs. Nicholson was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Fidelis Grace Sunday School Class and the Women's Missionary Union. Mrs. Nicholson was a charter member of the Upson County Historical Society. She was also a member of the Thomaston Garden Club and the DAR. Mrs. Nicholson is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Allen) Thames of Fayetteville; two sons, Nick (Rita) Nicholson of Fayetteville and David (Suzy) Nicholson of Macon; a sister, Jean Jackson of Dalton; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
