Mr. Merrell Lewis Brooks

Mr. Merrell Lewis Brooks, 81, of Thomaston, died Thursday, August 30, 2018, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, September 1, at 11:00 AM, in South View Cemetery. Rev. Dean Hemphill and Rev. Joey Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 -11:00 AM. Mr. Brooks was born May 4, 1937, in Thomaston, GA, to the late Herman Brooks and Grace Raines Brooks. He was retired from Thomaston Mills where he was a warehouse foreman. Mr. Brooks was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by a brother, Harold 'Booney' Brooks. He is survived by his wife, Madie Wade Brooks of Thomaston; two sons: Robby (Debbie) Brooks and Bill (Vanessa) Brooks, both of Thomaston; a grandson, Shannon Brooks of Columbus, GA; and three great grandchildren: Colton, Kristen, and Matthew Brooks, all of Thomaston.
