Mr. Leon Harmon

Mr. Leon Harmon, age 83, of Thomaston, passed away on Saturday morning, May 24, 2025, at his home. He was born on January 22, 1942, in Rupert, Taylor County, Georgia, and he lived a full life marked by devotion to his family.

Leon dedicated 37 years to Martha Mills, where he retired as a Supervisor before transitioning to a career as a bus mechanic. He took great pride in his work, reflecting his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Leon cherished spending time with his grandchildren, which was one of his proudest accomplishments. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies, particularly fishing and hunting, and was well-known among family and friends for his cooking skills, especially his famous fish fries and hushpuppies.

Leon was known for his loving nature as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha Harmon, and their daughters, Debbie (Dexter) Guy and Christi (Mike) Pitts. His legacy also includes his grandchildren, Robby Stewart, Nathan (Lauren) Guy, Brandon (Tori) Pitts, Josh Phillips, Cody Pitts, and Emily Phillips, as well as his great-grandchildren: Will Guy, Brayden Stewart, Jaxon Pitts, and Mason Pitts. He is also remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joulis Levi Harmon and Christine Hill Harmon, as well as his daughter, Kathy Phillips, and siblings: Helen Fowler, Faye Durance, Kaye Gordy, and Leroy Harmon.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 27, at 2:00 PM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Chaplain Kevin Murdock officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Fletcher Day Funeral Home, on Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
