Mr. Joseph "Joe" Watts Gordy, 88, of Thomaston, died Friday, October 15, 2021, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA. Funeral services for Mr. Gordy will be held Monday, October 18, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Tim South will officiate, and interment will follow in Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Mr. Gordy was born in Pike County, GA, on October 13, 1933, to the late Byron Barnard Gordy and Bessie Mae Stribling Gordy. He had worked for Wells Dairy and Life of Georgia Insurance Company before retiring from Upson County as Superintendent of the Water Department. Mr. Gordy was a member of the Thomaston Masonic Lodge and was a devoted member of the Fellowship Baptist Church for forty-five years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gordy was preceded in death by a granddaughter, April Dawn; two sisters: Louise Hall and Ozelle Gordy; and three brothers: Raymond Gordy, Buford Gordy, and Jack Gordy. He is survived by his wife, Faye H. Gordy, of Thomaston; two daughters: Joanne Gordy and Sheila Gordy, both of Thomaston; a sister, Elaine Nordan of Thomaston; three brothers: Bobby Gordy of Griffin, David (Donna) Gordy of Thomaston, and Cyrus Gordy of Thomaston; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
