Mr. George Felton “Butch” Hoyle, Jr., age 82, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Born on January 12, 1943, in Thomaston, Georgia, Butch was the son of the late George Felton Hoyle, Sr. and Olivia Keller Hoyle. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and went on to work for Georgia Farm Bureau, where he dedicated 29 years before retiring. Retirement didn’t slow him down, as he found joy and community in his second career at Barnes Store, where he gained another family of friends and coworkers.
Butch was a man of many talents and passions. He was an avid reader, loved bird hunting and fishing, and was a master craftsman when it came to tinkering and woodworking. He never did anything halfway—his attention to detail and commitment to quality was evident in everything he touched. He also had a deep love for genealogy and history. A sports fan, he especially loved baseball cheering on the Atlanta Braves and Georgia football. Butch, a man of faith, had served as an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston, and was a former member of the Thomaston Jaycees, and Rotary.
Above all, Butch was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Jan Hoyle; his daughter and son-in-law, Meredith Hoyle (Ryan) Browning; his son and daughter-in-law, Brett (Nichole) Hoyle; and his cherished grandchildren, EmmaRyan Browning, Nina Hoyle, and Carter Hoyle. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Cathy (Charles) Osbolt; his brother and sister-in-law, Dudley (Linda) Hoyle; sister-in-law, Virginia Hoyle; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Hoyle.
