Mr. Daniel Jackson Blount, age 29, of Thomaston, died Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements for Mr. Blount will be announced later.
Jackson was born in Thomaston on March 20, 1997, to David Cecil Blount and Laurel Medcalf Blount. He was employed as a journeyman electrician at his father’s company, DCB Electric, where he excelled at his work. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston.
Jackson was as unique and as well-designed as the classic cars he loved. Kind-hearted, sturdy, thoughtful, hard-working and intelligent, he walked through life with an integrity that few people possess. Those he loved—and he loved many—he loved with a fierce and unshakable loyalty. He served God through innumerable private acts of loving service to those who truly needed help, expecting no repayment.
Jackson found great joy in his cars, his cows and in relentlessly teasing those he loved best. Hehad a razor-quick wit and an indomitable sense of humor. He was a lifelong lover of the ocean, longed to live closer to it, and relished the time he spent there. Fiercely independent, he taught himself numerous skills, from classic car restoration to cookery to videography. He set standards of excellence for himself in everything he did—and he met them.
Jackson left us far too soon, and the cost of such a loss to this world and to those who loved him cannot possibly be tallied. The greatest cost of all, though, falls to those who never had the opportunity to meet him. However, we draw comfort from the truth of Jackson’s faith, from the faithful promises of his God and from the memories of his laughter, his goodness and his love.“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
Jackson was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Frances Medcalf, and his paternal grandmother, Annette Blount. He is survived by his parents, David Cecil Blount and Laurel Medcalf Blount; two sisters: Rebecca Blount Brock and Joanna Blount; a brother, Levi Blount, and his beloved Papa, his paternal grandfather, Lamont Blount, all of Thomaston, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Fletcher-Day Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. Condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.fletcherdayfuneralhome.com.
