Mr. Clyde E. "Buck" Chapman, age 81, of Meansville, GA, died Sunday, June 7, 2026, at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Chapman will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Rev. Anna Faith Adair officiating. Burial will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 10:00 until the funeral hour.
Mr. Chapman was born on January 6, 1945, in Kingsport, TN, to the late Clyde E. Chapman and the late Anna Ruth Southers Chapman. He moved to Thomaston in 1968 to work for Bahnson Service Company installing air conditioning in the Martha Mills. He later went to work in the machine shop at B. F. Goodrich Martha Mills where he learned to be a machinist. He soon opened his own shop, Premier Machine Shop, in Thomaston and provided service to businesses in the area for many years. He loved playing golf and poker and riding motorcycles with his friends and family. Mr. Chapman was a member of Morning Star Lodge #27 F&AM and of Mountain View Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mae Wells, two sisters-in-law: Joy Strickland and Marjorie Cochran; and two brothers-in-law: Royal Phillips and Arthur "Fatso" Phillips. He is survived by his wife, Bennie Ree Phillips Chapman of Thomaston; a daughter, Christina (Stephen) Harth of Roswell; a son, Gary Chapman of Warner Robins; a sister, Patsy Christian of Kingsport, TN; a brother, Jerry (Christy) Chapman of Thomaston; two grandchildren: Cody Chapman of Warner Robins and Easton Harth of Roswell; three sisters-in-law: Martha (Joe) Daniel, Mary Jo King; and Cherry (Ricky) McCard; and two brothers-in-law: Henry D. Philips and Jerone (Gloria) Phillips. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
