Mr. Bennie Frank Scruggs

Mr. Bennie Frank Scruggs, age 87, of Thomaston, died Sunday, August 9, 2026, at his residence.  No services are planned at this time.

Mr. Scruggs was born in Thomaston on December 26, 1938, to the late James E. Scruggs and the late Lizzie Ray Scruggs.  He was a 1958 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute attended Gordon Military College for a short while where he played football.  Mr. Scruggs proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from November, 1958, through November, 1962.  He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Scruggs was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Caldwell.  He is survived by his long-time companion, Carolyn Akins, of Thomaston; a daughter, Deborah (Dwane) Exum of Watkinsville, GA; a son, Brad (Amanda) Scruggs of Athens, GA, and several grandchildren.
