Mr. Michael Elbert Smith

Mr. Michael Elbert "Mike" Smith, age 63, of Thomaston, died Monday, September 14, 2026, at his residence.

Mr. Smith was born in Sandersville, Georgia, on January 20, 1963, to Mary Frances Salter Nix and the late Elbert Smith. He worked in retail at the Southern Crescent Bookstore. Mr. Smith attended Christ Chapel and he enjoyed collecting Die Cast Cars.

Mike is survived by his mother, Mary Frances Salter Nix; his sister, Sandra Smith of Thomaston; his nephews, Austin (Joy) Gore of Barnesville and Jamey (Ashley) Teal of Thomaston; his great nieces and nephews, Michael Gore, Addyson Gore, Edie Teal and Eli Teal; and his beloved dog, Layla. In addition, Mr. Smith is survived by numerous aunts and cousins.

Memorial services for Mike will be held Saturday, September 19, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Billy Smith will officiate and inurnment will follow at South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.
