Mr. Ormand was a native of Greenville, SC, but had lived in Thomaston for most of his life. He was a 1948 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and also a graduate of Clemson University. At the time of his retirement in 1989 Mr. Ormand was Senior Vice President of Manufacturing for Thomaston Mills. He was also a farmer and cattleman. Mr. Ormand was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Thomaston. He is survived by his wife, Margie Chambless Ormand; three children, Lane Ormand (Chip) Godbee of Statesboro, Alan F. (Gini) Ormand of Marietta and Mark E. (Robin) Ormand of Sugar Hill; two step-children, Nancy Kilgore of Butler and Gregg Chambless of Atlanta; and five grandchildren.
