Mr. Jere Patrick Greer, Jr. age 61, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Greer will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 4:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church of Thomaston. Rev. Bryan McPherson and Rev. Ted Kandler will officiate, and interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary from 2:30 PM until the service hour.
Mr. Greer was born in Thomaston on May 12, 1964, to the late Jere P. Greer, Sr. and the late Julia Elliott Greer. Growing up in Thomaston, he participated in the youth sports program. He was a 1982 graduate of Westwood Academy where he played basketball and baseball. Mr. Greer was a graduate of Valdosta State University and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He was an advertising executive with a television station in Brunswick, GA, during which time he resided on Jekyll Island. He later was employed with his father at Jere Greer’s Store for Men in Thomaston, and later worked in healthcare sales for several years. Mr. Greer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Thomaston for approximately fifty years. Even though his health was declining, he always maintained a cheerful disposition and a positive attitude.
Mr. Greer is survived by a daughter, Elliott G. (Dan) Ellington of Thomaston; a son, Tripp Greer of Athens, GA; a sister, Powell G. (Chris) Hosey of Thomaston; two nieces: Mary Beth (Stephen) Powers and Julianne Hosey, both of Thomaston; an aunt: Anne Mitchell of Buford, GA; an uncle: Lee Christensen of Pittsburg, KS; and cousins: Brooks Vadner of Buford, GA; Jeremy Mitchell of Dallas, GA; and Greer Lawson of Overland Park, KS.
