Betty Maddox Melton

Mrs. Betty Maddox Melton, age 81, of Thomaston, died Thursday, January 23, 2014, in Christian Ministries Hospice, in Griffin. She was a native of Fayette County, GA, born to the late Brooks Maddox and Tommie Lue Oglesbee Maddox, Mrs. Melton lived most of her life in Spalding County, GA. Mrs. Melton was a homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church, in Griffin. She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh Edward Melton and brother, Dwey Maddox. Survivors are sisters, Hilda Dutton, Thomaston, GA; Shirley Haney, Toccoa, GA; brothers, Ralph Maddox, of Jesup, GA; Tracy Maddox, and Lane Maddox both of Griffin. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 26, 2014, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hendricks Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Wright will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.
